Raw, elemental, and refined — this handcrafted table transforms a salvaged Australian gum log into a striking piece of functional art. Every curve, crack, and grain pattern tells the story of the timber, preserved and elevated through traditional and modern techniques.
The surface is rough sawn and hand-textured, revealing a landscape of natural markings. Subtle fractures in the log are bound with copper stitches, adding both strength and a luminous detail that contrasts beautifully against the darkened edges. The wood has been charred using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method, enriching the tones and textures while ensuring lasting durability. A natural wax and oil finish protects the surface while allowing the timber’s warmth and depth to shine.
Whether styled as a low ceremonial table, display bench, or sculptural centrepiece, this design invites nature’s raw beauty into your space with bold elegance.
